Richard BurtLocal Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate, Richard Burt will chair a public meeting at Dyson Perrins Sports College on Thursday, 23rd October to debate future plans for housing in Malvern.

The meeting starts at 7.30pm in the college hall and is an opportunity for Malvern residents to have their say on plans for an extra 1600 homes for the town proposed under the South Worcestershire Joint Core Strategy Review.

Mr Burt has invited local Trinity County Councillor, Jeremy Webb, Councillor Tom Wells, who represents Newland where 1100 new homes are proposed, and Councillor Serena Croad, Leader of Malvern Hills District Council to share the platform and answer questions from the public.

A representative from MHDC planning department has also been invited.

"I have decided to call this public meeting during the consultation period because there is clearly huge concern about these proposals and what this scale of housing development would do to the town and surrounding villages," said Richard

"Despite widespread anger, many people don't really understand how we got to this point and what we can do now.

"We will provide a brief introduction and then just open the debate to the floor for people to have their say.

"Anyone with a point of view must respond to the consultation before the deadline on 31st October. People power is all that is left now because there is only one proposal on the table, so if residents aren't happy with it they must say so loud and clear."
